Developer and publisher Wayward Astronaut has officially revealed the first teaser trailer for These Starless Skies, an upcoming 2.5D sci-fi point-and-click adventure that blends cinematic storytelling, psychological mystery and classic exploration gameplay. The game is currently in development for PC via Steam.

The newly released teaser introduces players to a mysterious tidally locked planet, a world permanently divided between a scorching desert bathed in endless daylight and a frozen landscape consumed by perpetual darkness. Between the two extremes lies a narrow twilight zone filled with glowing auroras, bioluminescent vegetation, abandoned structures and unsettling silhouettes that hint at the dangers hidden beneath the surface.

These Starless Skies follows a team of planetary scientists sent to investigate the enigmatic world. As the expedition unfolds, the crew must not only uncover the planet’s secrets but also confront their own psychological struggles. The story is told through the perspectives of six different crew members, with playable flashbacks revealing events on a futuristic version of Earth that gradually connect to the central mystery.

Gameplay combines traditional point-and-click adventure mechanics with environmental investigation and narrative decision-making. You will gather scientific samples using futuristic tools, analyze clues, solve environmental puzzles and interact with the alien world in order to survive. Dialogue choices also play an important role, shifting the experience between quiet moments of exploration and more intense, high-stakes encounters.
