Publisher Panic and studio Playables, known for KIDS and Plug & Play, have announced the release date for their adventure Time Flies. This hand-drawn game, where you play as a fly with an ambitious bucket list, will launch on July 31 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

First revealed in 2022 during the Day of the Devs showcase, Time Flies is the result of years of creative work by developers Michael Frei and Raphaël Munoz. They crafted a light-hearted yet deeply reflective game exploring the theme of life’s transience: “Flies are pretty annoying, and we’ve been listening to one every day for four years while making this game,” Frei joked.

In this game, you’re a fly with a short lifespan but a long list of dreams. You can learn to play an instrument, read a book, get rich, get drunk, or simply make someone happy. If you’re not in the mood for goals, you can relax, clean your wings, and listen to music. The game encourages you to make the most of the time you have.

Special attention was given to the fly’s physics, which are surprisingly precise and fun. The developers are also working on a new project, Pocket Boss, a career simulator recently showcased at the summer Day of the Devs event.
