Developer Grimlore Games and publisher THQ Nordic are set to expand the itemization and customization depth in Titan Quest II with the introduction of Relics and Charms in the game’s next Early Access update. These new socketable items promise to give heroes the power to upgrade their favorite gear far beyond its base stats.
Relics and Charms function similarly, allowing players to slot them into weapons, armor, rings, and amulets, depending on the item type. This new system encourages players to constantly refine their equipment and specialize their builds.
Charms are the more common of the two item types and are acquired from enemies in a logical way: skeletons drop bones, and boars drop hides. The system is designed around fragments. Each fragment offers a small bonus, but the real power is unlocked by combining three fragments of the same type. For example, a single Ichthian Fin fragment might offer a slight increase to Cold Damage.
Relics work identically to Charms but are significantly rarer and far more powerful in the bonuses they give. For instance, assembling three fragments of the extremely rare Essence of Zeus’ Thunderbolt will not only increase the player’s attack and cast speed and boost Lightning Damage, but it will also add a powerful chance to instantly kill non-boss creatures.
The upcoming update will introduce approximately 40 different Charms and Relics to serve as the foundation of this new system. The developers have confirmed that more, and even better, Charms and Relics will be continuously added to the game over time, ensuring a constantly evolving loot hunt for dedicated players.
