Summer Game Fest 2025 brought a new look at MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. This is a first-person shooter that blends 1930s noir storytelling with the aesthetics of classic cartoons. The new trailer introduced the famous actor Troy Baker as the main character, Jack Pepper — a mouse and war hero who became a private investigator. This unique title, being developed by Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios, is expected to be released later this year for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).

But what starts as a simple case quickly turns into a complex web of murder, corruption, and unexpected enemies lurking in the city’s dark underbelly. The narrative heavily relies on old noir films, delivering a story full of intrigue and danger that feels both new and nostalgic.
What sets MOUSE apart is its audacious visual style, reminiscent of the retro “rubber-hose” animation from the game Cuphead. The black-and-white, hand-drawn aesthetic captures the charm of 1930s cartoons, paired with a jazz soundtrack that amplifies the noir atmosphere. As a first-person shooter, MOUSE promises fast-paced action, with Jack Pepper using an arsenal ranging from classic Tommy guns to quirky, enemy-melting weapons.
