A new action-adventure game called Vicarius is coming to PC via Steam with a planned release date of September or October of this year. This game is described as a small, handcrafted open world focused on exploration and combat, designed for players who love a challenge.
In Vicarius, you begin in a safe zone and must venture out to collect resources that will help you craft better gear. The game’s world gets more dangerous the further you go, but the rewards, in the form of better resources, also increase. However, the stakes are high, as dying means you lose everything you’re carrying.
It puts players into a world they know nothing about and offers absolutely no help. “There is no tutorial, no directions, no map, and no specific goals are given. With a minimal user interface, the game’s motto is clear: Figure it out or stay stuck”, said Watchful Owl, the developer behind the game.
The solo developer also states that it’s intentionally challenging and “not for everyone”. The game doesn’t offer an easier mode, so if you prefer a less difficult experience with more guidance, Vicarius might not be for you.
