Fans of narrative-driven games have a new release to watch as The Weeping Swan prepares to launch on April 2 on PC via Steam. Developed by Zerocreation Games and published by 2P Games, the title follows the success of The Hungry Lamb with an even darker and more ambitious story rooted in real historical tragedy.
Set during the final years of the Ming Dynasty, the game draws inspiration from the Yangzhou Massacre, blending documented eyewitness accounts with surreal fantasy elements influenced by Journey to the West. Players step into the role of Fang Zhiyou, a scholar who awakens inside a twisted nightmare realm shaped by both his own writings and the horrors of reality. In this distorted world, humans appear as beasts, and survival depends on protecting a mysterious young girl tied to his past.
What makes The Weeping Swan stand out is its scale and artistic ambition. The story spans more than 450,000 words, offering multiple endings and numerous ways for the narrative to unfold, or abruptly end. Its presentation combines hand-painted illustrations with a mix of realistic textures and modern anime influences.
