Developer Paochanz, known for Rainbow Sea, has announced Waiting for Reply, a pixel visual novel that allows players to shape a touching story through smartphone interactions. The game will be released on PC via Steam, although a launch date has not yet been announced.

In Waiting for Reply, you experience a short but emotional story centered on Ritsuka, who arrives at a station on a Saturday morning to meet her friend Sakurako. When Sakurako doesn’t arrive at the agreed time, Ritsuka sends a message and boards the reserved train, only to find a stranger named Aoi in Sakurako’s place. Confused by Aoi’s uncanny resemblance to Sakurako and her tears, Ritsuka embarks on an unexpected journey with Aoi.

The unique game mechanic allows you to interact with the world using a smartphone interface, where you use in-game apps to send messages, check emails, take photos, and track the weather. These actions drive the story, with decisions like sending messages or noting moments shaping the narrative’s direction. Furthermore, the pixel graphics amplify the emotional tone, creating a nostalgic yet immersive experience.
