Wholesome Direct, the annual indie showcase organized by Wholesome Games, will take place in June this year. Although the exact date has not been officially announced yet, historical patterns and recent announcements suggest that the event will be held as part of the Summer Game Fest, likely between June 7th and June 14th. Last year’s event was held on June 8, 2024, and before that on June 10, 2023, both times on a Saturday at 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM CET.
Wholesome Direct 2025 promises to showcase over 70 indie games, including exclusive trailers, new reveals, and surprise launches. The event will be available live on the Wholesome Games YouTube and Twitch channels, continuing the tradition of presenting “wholesome” and inspiring titles that contrast with the blockbusters of the Summer Game Fest.
Wholesome Games was founded by Matthew Taylor, and has grown into a community of nearly 500 thousand followers across platforms after the first Wholesome Direct in 2020, which emerged in response to the cancellation of various other events during the pandemic. The June date aligns with the Summer Game Fest, with partners like IGN and Guerilla Collective increasing the event’s reach.
Additionally, applications for guest hosts have been announced, marking the first time in the showcase’s history. Applications are also open for developers to submit their projects via a survey on the Wholesome Games website.
