Nordic Game Spring 2024 officially kicked off on Tuesday in Malmö, Sweden, an event where more than a hundred game studios are showcasing their projects. Alongside games, various AI projects and MeetToMatch, a business matchmaking service that enables meetings and networking within the video game industry, were also present. The event will run until Friday, and here’s a look at how the first day went.

Before the Speed Pitches on the Dev Showcase stage, the opening session was led by Mighty Diamonds, a collective of experienced consultants from around the world, all passionate about video games and eager to share their expertise with studios and publishers. Today, Vivy Zhao, Gregory Queste, Patrick Rose, and André Persson talked about topics such as how indie developers can reach their audience, the use of social media, game financing and marketing, the popularity of titles like Vampire Survivors and Lethal Company, differences between indie developers and AAA games, and accessibility for players, including controllers and game length.

During the Speed Pitches, developers had only one minute to present their game, and we saw more than thirty games and various other projects. Some titles included Machine Match, Last Spartan: Glory Over Madness, Altered Alma, Map Map – A Game About Maps, Blood Bar Tycoon, REPLICORE, and many others. Additionally, at the developer showcase, where booths were scattered throughout Slagthuset, there were even more games to try. Among them were Anima Flux, Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef, Red Metal, Hollow Home, and Supermoves, ensuring that everyone could find something they liked.

Beyond the very professional and pleasant atmosphere, and plenty of great photos, Nordic Game once again demonstrated why it is one of the leading events in Europe. On Wednesday, many new panels, presenters, and games will be available. For example, tomorrow you can listen to the session “Navigating The Maze Of Game Discoverability”, presented by André Persson and Gregory Queste, or “Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – Fireside Chat”, featuring Anders Leicht Rohde, Mikkel Martin Pedersen, and Søren Lundgaard.

An exciting week lies ahead, and you can check out photos from the first day below.
