Nintendo Switch sales soar to 146 million units worldwide; Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the top-selling game

Nintendo has released impressive new sales figures for the Nintendo Switch, revealing a total of 146.04 million units sold worldwide as of September 30, 2024. Despite being more than seven years old, the Switch continues to perform strongly, with 2.62 million consoles sold in the last quarter alone. Game sales remain robust as well, with 39.64 million software units sold during the same period, bringing total Switch game sales to over 1.3 billion.

Nintendo’s first-party titles remain the key drivers of the console’s success. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best-selling Switch game, reaching 64.27 million units sold. Here are the top 10 bestselling Nintendo games:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 64.27 million
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 46.45 million
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 35.14 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 32.29 million
  • Super Mario Odyssey – 28.50 million
  • Pokémon Sword / Pokémon Shield – 26.44 million
  • Pokémon Scarlet / Pokémon Violet – 25.69 million
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – 21.04 million
  • Super Mario Party – 20.98 million
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 17.77 million

Nintendo also shared additional figures for more recent titles. Nintendo Switch Sports has reached 14.37 million sales, while the newly released The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has sold 2.58 million units since launch. The 2024 remaster Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has reached 1.94 million units, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD has sold 1.57 million copies.
