Atari’s publishing label Infogrames has secured the rights to publish Bread & Fred, the cooperative platformer developed by Sand Castles Studio. Originally released by Apogee Entertainment, Bread & Fred is now coming to PlayStation and Xbox following its successful launches on PC in May 2023 and Nintendo Switch in May 2024.

Infogrames plans not only to expand Bread & Fred’s availability across major platforms but also to collaborate closely with Sand Castles Studio to bring additional content and updates to the game. Infogrames’ manager Geoffroy Chateauvieux highlighted the game’s appeal to players of all skill levels, calling it a “rare gem” that both casual gamers and passionate platformer fans can enjoy together.

Bread & Fred follows two penguin friends, Bread and Fred, on a mission to climb a snowy mountain together. The cooperative mechanics make the game both challenging and humorous, as players must coordinate their jumps and swings carefully while being tied together. If one penguin falls, the other risks being pulled down as well.

The game also features a solo mode where players control a penguin named Greg, using a rock on a rope called Jeff to climb. This alternative mode retains the same challenging mechanics, allowing solo players to experience the mountain-climbing adventure without a co-op partner.
