The French studio Eko Software has announced that their latest project Dragonkin: The Banished will enter Early Access on Steam starting March 6, 2025. The game was first showcased at the NACON Connect 2024 event, and today we received a new gameplay overview with additional details from the game’s lead designer, Jonathan Gabrielli.

In Dragonkin: The Banished, you enter a world dominated by dragons, and choose one of four heroes, each with unique abilities and combat styles. The game can be played solo or in a cooperative mode for up to four players. A key feature of the game is the Ancestral Grid, a skill system that allows you to enhance your character’s abilities by strategically placing fragments collected throughout the game. This system provides endless possibilities for character customization and developing unique combat strategies.

Another important part of the game is The City, a central hub that serves as humanity’s last refuge. Here, you can upgrade gear, interact with NPCs, and customize your experience with visual enhancements. After completing the main story, you unlock endgame content, including new modes, bosses, and fights. This content will expand throughout the Early Access phase, ensuring plenty of challenges for dedicated players.
