Small independent studio Humble Reeds has announced Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling, a simulation adventure set in the Swiss Alps. This cozy game was revealed during this month’s Wholesome Direct event and blends animal care with hand-drawn visuals, inspired by the timeless Heidi novels. The release is planned for PC via Steam in 2026, although the exact date has not yet been confirmed.

In Heidi’s Legacy, you play as Adèle, a young woman who leaves city life in search of a simpler purpose in the peaceful Swiss Alps. Every day begins with the morning light and your goats, which you care for. You will lead them through meadows, and in return, their milk and wool will become resources for crafting products like cheese, woolen clothing, herbal remedies, and wood carvings.

You can sell or share these creations with the villagers, thus strengthening your bonds as you help them rebuild their homes and their lives. Every choice shapes your relationships and the future of the village, with branching dialogue. Additionally, you will gather herbs and mushrooms and fish in the calm waters. As you help the villagers, you will occasionally unlock new abilities that make it easier to climb steep cliffs or jump over crevices.
