The indie studio behind Slay the Princess and Scarlet Hollow Black Tabby Games has announced the launch of its own publishing arm. Led by Tony Howard-Arias and Abby Howard, the studio is positioning itself as a developer-first publisher focused on supporting narrative-driven projects from experienced teams. The new initiative has already signed two titles, including Prove You’re Human from studio sunset visitor and an unannounced project from animation duo SmallBu.

The publishing label is built around a curated approach, prioritizing a small number of projects that align with Black Tabby’s creative identity. According to Howard-Arias, the goal is to provide financial backing, marketing support, and editorial guidance while allowing developers to retain creative control.

The studio is offering mid-six-figure funding deals structured to favor developers in the long term, with a 70/30 revenue split before recoupment that shifts to 30/70 in favor of creators once initial costs are recovered. Additionally, they will avoid extended recoup structures and won’t retain intellectual property rights, with contracts designed to revert full ownership back to developers three years after launch.
