Icelandic studio Myrkur Games, founded with a focus on cinematic storytelling, together with publisher Deep Silver, has announced that their debut title Echoes of the End will launch on August 12, 2025, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Alongside the announcement, the studio released a 17-minute gameplay trailer offering the most detailed look yet at the game’s beautiful world, powerful magic, and emotional character-driven narrative.
Echoes of the End follows Ryn, a young woman with unstable magical powers, on a desperate quest to save her brother while the empire stands on the brink of war. Together with Abram Finlay, a troubled scientist, Ryn uncovers a conspiracy that could reignite an ancient conflict and plunge Aema into chaos. The story, driven by themes of trust, sacrifice, and redemption, unfolds across ten handcrafted chapters filled with cinematic moments, memorable characters, and impactful choices.
Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Echoes of the End features advanced motion capture and photogrammetry to create lifelike characters and environments. The voice cast includes Aldís Amah Hamilton as Ryn and Karla Ágústa Úlfsson as Abram, further bringing the narrative to life. The world of Aema, inspired by Icelandic landscapes, offers diverse environments, from lava fields to snow-covered ruins, ensuring a visually striking experience.
