SapStaR Games and Ogopogo, an indie studio from Shenzhen, have announced that their tactical PvP autobattler Wretch: Divine Ascent will be released on PC via Steam in October 2025. The game merges a unique inventory-management strategy system with dark fantasy inspired by Backpack Battles and the Soulslike genre. A demo is available on Steam, with an enhanced version set to appear during October’s Steam Next Fest.

Developed in Unreal Engine, Wretch: Divine Ascent demands precise inventory management as you purchase gear, accessories and attacks to create powerful combinations. Its Backpack Battles inspiration is clear in the item-fusion mechanic, which lets you craft unique effects unavailable in the in-game shop.

The game features five distinct character classes, including the Knight, Ronin and Assassin—three of which are available in the demo. The full release will introduce two more. You’ll fight asynchronous 1v1 duels against real players, aiming to score 10 victories to enter the Zenith Arena, where the strongest opponents await.
