This year’s Digital Dragons Conference was particularly rich in demo versions to try out, previews of upcoming games, and announcements of new titles. Over the course of three days, I had the opportunity to try out the builds available on-site, watch presentations during the pitch deck, and talk to the developers about their latest projects. I’ve compiled all these impressions into a list of titles I recommend keeping an eye on in the near future, whether in light of an upcoming release or promising future developments.

Barkour

The first title that immediately caught my eye was Barkour, a fast-paced spy action game with elements of stealth, platforming, and comedy. Taking on the role of Agent T.H.U.N.D.E.R., a dog with a knack for parkour and barking at villains, our mission is to infiltrate evil schemes and stop them from destroying the world. In a world full of charming absurdities, players will also have the chance to collect useful spy gadgets, search for hidden passages and shortcuts, and experiment with the emote system.

Foxy Dumplings

This game also revolves around animal characters, but the tasks here are much calmer and more relaxing. In Foxy Dumplings, we’ll have the chance to run our own food truck dedicated to dumplings from all over the world. This means visiting different cities, preparing meals for their residents, and building connections with them that go beyond food. This cozy game is perfect for anyone who finds joy in the little things and in moments shared with others.

Mutter

Players who enjoy narrative horror will have the chance to delve into the haunting reality of World War II. In Mutter, we follow a 9-year-old boy from rural England whose mother is slowly turning into a monster. With its handcrafted stop-motion aesthetic, environmental puzzles, and a significant focus on crafting, Mutter explores the fragile bonds of family and the quiet horrors of war.

Incremental Ragebait

How to effectively ragebait? The answer to this question can be found in Incremental Ragebait, a Nodebuster-inspired game where the goal is to hover over mortals, ragebait them, and take their souls. With plenty of opportunities to develop strategies through upgrades, weapons, and increasing the population in purgatory, this game is sure to appeal to people who enjoy watching the numbers go up on the screen.

Falling Apart

The next game on our list is a disturbing point-and-click puzzle adventure titled Falling Apart. In this production, we delve into the fractured human mind through hypnotherapy in search of a way to finally let go of painful memories. By solving unsettling puzzles and exploring deeply atmospheric locations, players will be able to piece together a fragmented story and confront the experiences that have haunted the protagonist for so long.

Martial Law: Our Spring

Memories are also a key element of the next game, which takes players on a journey back in time to the period of martial law in Poland in the 1980s. In Martial Law: Our Spring, we try to survive in a world ruled by communism by exploring a nearly open-world environment, interacting with its inhabitants, and making crucial decisions – whether right or wrong. As the second installment in the Martial Law series, the game aims to continue the story of its predecessor, while also promising to be accessible to new players.

Cosminers

Fans of space-themed games will have the chance to try something completely new in Cosminers. It’s a sci-fi first-person co-op building and mining game with survival elements based on a day/night cycle, featuring battles against various aliens and exploration of procedurally generated underground environments on planets. In a world where survival depends on the proper management of a space base, resources, and mining progress, players will get to face numerous challenges arising from this dangerous and mysterious space setting.

Land of Infinite Dreams

Changing the mood, we’re now going to transport ourselves to a world straight out of a fairy tale. This will be possible in Land of Infinite Dreams, a story-driven action-adventure game about a princess navigating a dreamworld shaped by loss, loneliness, and imagination. As they face hostile creatures and solve complex puzzles, players will be able to use the power of moonlight to fight and uncover secrets that will allow them to escape this strange world and return home.

Greedy Dive

What do we get when we combine the underwater exploration of Subnautica with the world-building of Hollow Knight? That’s what the creators of Greedy Dive, a first-person exploration roguelite, are trying to find out. The main goal for players is to uncover the island’s secrets by diving into an underwater world that changes every time. Although the game doesn’t have a Steam page yet, the pitch deck includes a folder with various builds, including the version showcased at Digital Dragons.

Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior

Last but not least, here’s something for fans of heavy sounds and post-apocalyptic scenarios. We’re talking about Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior, a brutal action metroidvania adapted from the visionary universe of the metal band Voivod. So, if exploring war-torn landscapes, infiltrating cybernetic fortresses, and battling twisted creatures sounds like the perfect combination to you, you’ll want to check out this adventure reminiscent of 90s action-platformers.
