Fans of gothic action games may want to keep a close eye on Bathory: Heritage of Blood. The upcoming title from Moonana takes clear inspiration from Castlevania while building its own dark fantasy world around vampire politics, betrayal, and revenge.
The story follows Ursula Bathory, a vampire princess who awakens after years of imprisonment. Poisoned and overthrown by her own mother, Queen Regent Elizabeth Bathory, Ursula sets out to reclaim her throne and uncover the conspiracies that reshaped her kingdom during her absence.
You will explore the halls of Čachtice Castle and the surrounding lands, venturing through haunted libraries, royal chambers, and other supernatural locations filled with enemies and secrets. Along the way, they’ll unlock new powers fueled by blood, bone, and fire magic.
When it comes to the combat, Ursula uses her own life force to unleash attacks, while defeated enemies leave behind blood that can be used to heal or gain advantages during battle. You can also steal abilities from enemies and eventually transform into powerful vampiric creatures.
Bathory: Heritage of Blood is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for Steam and Nintendo Switch.
