From the kitchen of Ancient Forge, the studio known for titles like Blockbuster Inc. and The Tenants, comes the narrative simulator and management game Hotel Galactic. The official announcement of this title was last year in June during the PC Gaming Show, and a successful Kickstarter campaign that surpassed all goals was launched shortly after. A new demo version was therefore released last week on Steam, offering about two hours of gameplay.
Inspired by the enchanting worlds of Studio Ghibli, this title blends nostalgic charm with modern simulation mechanics. The plot follows the transformation of a rundown intergalactic hotel on a magical floating island into a successful tourist hub, with the help of the ghost of Grandpa Gustav, who seeks redemption through a story full of lost love and revenge.
The three main pillars of the game include building and customization, resource management, and exploration and crafting. Managing the hotel involves hiring and supervising a diverse crew of alien workers, as well as balancing their needs with guest satisfaction. Exploration brings the opportunity to gather alien resources, tend to gardens, and investigate an underground complex to unlock new materials, tools, and technologies.
The full version of the game is planned for 2025 on PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, although exact dates for consoles have not yet been confirmed.
