Devolver Digital will publish Virtue and a Sledgehammer, a story-driven exploration game coming to PC via Steam in 2026. The project is a collaboration between Deconstructeam, known for The Red Strings Club and The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, and Selkie Harbour, the creator of Many Nights a Whisper.

The game takes place in the town where the protagonist grew up. Now, the place is filled with android ghosts, digital versions of former neighbors who wander through familiar streets. Armed with a sledgehammer, the player must move through this broken hometown, smashing mechanical figures and even destroying buildings that once held memories.

The main gameplay is built around this act of destruction where you will swing your hammer to tear down walls, crush machines, and break apart the town. As the environment falls apart, memories and ghosts from the protagonist’s past rise to the surface, turning the wreckage into a path toward understanding.

These moments of action lead into cinematic, interactive story scenes that slowly reveal the protagonist’s deepest fears and hopes, along with the tangled relationships and expectations within their family. The game also explores themes of tradition, family pressure, and feeling out of place.
