Echo: Defy Death is a unique game that introduces an innovative echolocation mechanic

3Hills recently announced its new upcoming title Echo: Defy Death. The Podgorica-based studio already has something to be proud of, as the game has gathered around 10,000 Steam wishlists in just two months.

Echo: Defy Death is a roguelite game that blends intense action with innovative echolocation. You play as a shogun’s assassin whose life takes a dark turn when a demon disguised as your wife betrays you, steals your eyes, and leaves you blind. Driven by revenge, you must rely on sound to navigate the darkness. By emitting sound pulses, you reveal your surroundings, hidden enemies, and traps. Each challenging boss also has unique abilities and requires different strategies to defeat.

3Hills was founded in July 2021 as a spinoff of one of Montenegro’s biggest IT companies — Amplitudo. Their vision is to become “a recognizable studio from a small country with exceptional ideas and a story about loss, creating incredible and bold video games that deeply impact players’ lives and evoke strong emotions.”

The game will be available on PC, while console versions are possible in the future. There is no specific release date yet.
