Publisher Private Division and developer Wētā Workshop have once again delayed Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game. This single-player life simulation, which was originally slated for release on March 25th, will now be launched on July 29, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Tales of the Shire invites players to step into the peaceful world of Middle-earth and experience life as a Hobbit in the idyllic village of Bywater. The game promises a cozy and immersive life-sim experience, where players can customize their Hobbit’s appearance, decorate their home, and engage in the daily joys of life in the Shire. From baking fluffy cakes to styling their foot-hair, every detail is designed to make players feel the warmth of this beloved setting.

Wētā Workshop shared a message with fans, explaining the reason for the delay: “A good Hobbit feast takes time to prepare, and the same goes for Tales of the Shire!” the studio wrote. “We need a little more time to ensure every Hobbit, on every platform, can enjoy the same cozy experience.”
