Steelkrill Studio has announced that their upcoming game The Backrooms: 1998 will officially exit Early Access and launch in its full 1.0 version on Steam, while simultaneously becoming available for the first time on all current consoles. This found-footage survival horror title is coming soon to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Follow the story of a young teenager who accidentally falls into the depths of the Backrooms in 1998. You are free to explore, searching for tools and items that will help you escape. However, you are not alone, don’t scream, watch your steps, and use your stamina only when necessary. Sometimes, hiding in narrow passages, under tables, or inside lockers is the best strategy for survival.

The Backrooms: 1998 is an “escape room” type of game, meaning you must find the exit yourself while exploring and solving puzzles. With tools like spray paint to mark your path, medicine to preserve your sanity, injections for healing, and crowbars to open barricaded doors, you must carefully manage your inventory and flashlight batteries. Therefore, staying in complete darkness in the Backrooms is not a good idea.
