DON’T NOD and Studio Tolima unveiled their new game Koira at this year’s Day of the Devs 2024 event, which highlights the best upcoming indie titles. Planned for a 2025 release, with a demo coming this summer, Koira is a cozy adventure game where you play as a forest spirit who rescues a puppy. Together, they embark on a musical, hand-drawn journey through an enchanted forest.
The game’s trailer emphasizes Koira’s central theme – friendship. It shows the duo’s interactions and adventures as they grow closer, such as playing fetch, feeding the puppy, exploring the forest, and overcoming challenges together. The hand-drawn 2D animation and emotional soundtrack highlight the game’s musical focus, where the singing mechanic allows the spirit to awaken the forest and interact with its new friend.
Koira is a story told through sound and music, where puzzles are tied to audio mechanics, and each character communicates through a unique instrument. The game is planned for release on Steam in 2025.
