Humble Games and Bossa Studios have announced the Steam Early Access release of the multiplayer open-world survival game Lost Skies. Starting April 18, explorers of the skybound islands will be able to embark on an adventure that already offers plenty of content to discover, even in its early stage.

The initial version takes players through the first region, known as the Outskirts, a collection of floating islands created both by the developers and the community using the Island Creator tool. You can expect three different island types of varying difficulty levels, filled with diverse wildlife, ancient technological enemies, and environmental puzzles. At the heart of the experience lies the construction and upgrading of your own skyship — whether you choose to make it a cozy base for solo adventuring or a mighty warship for a full crew.

The main challenge of the Outskirts is the Herald, the first boss, a mechanical creature that tests both your ship’s power and your crew’s coordination. The entire game revolves around crafting, upgrading, and exploration, with continuous improvements planned throughout Early Access.

During this phase, the studio will focus on bug fixing, optimization, and quality-of-life improvements, alongside expanding the first region with new islands, enemies, and resources. In the long term, the developers plan to add a completely new region filled with additional content. Lost Skies will also feature online co-op for up to six players.
