Reverting Castles has officially unveiled Demon Crush, a side-scrolling action game where you’ll battle warriors, demons, and beasts in a pixel-art Japanese fantasy world. It’s an ode to nostalgic 16-bit gameplay inspired by classics like Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, and Castlevania. The studio also announced that their Kickstarter campaign will begin soon, with more details to come.

Demon Crush places you in a story where warlord Neuzmo and his army attack a small isolated village with the intention of conquering not only the land, but also time itself. As Kenzo and his forces, you must fight against an overwhelming enemy, but soon another threat emerges: the demon Mathonas. All of this unfolds because of an energy source buried beneath the village, and players must ensure Kenzo reaches it before monsters or other foes do.

Key features you can expect:

  • Adrenaline-fueled action:
A modern game design focused entirely on action, without dialogue or unnecessary text during gameplay, allowing for a seamless combat experience.
  • Tactical martial-arts combat:
Controls are simple yet enable deep tactical fighting. Every move can be executed with a single button and direction, rewarding tactical decision-making and player responsiveness.
  • Speedrunners welcome:
The game appeals to a variety of players, including action fans, platformer enthusiasts, and speedrunners. Players can enjoy multiple playstyles, including fast-running challenges and leaderboard competitions.

Demon Crush does not yet have a release date, but you can wishlist it on Steam starting today.
