UK publisher Kwalee and indie developer Clover Bite have shared a detailed new gameplay overview for GRIME II, the upcoming sequel to the acclaimed metroidvania. The new trailer is narrated by Director and Producer Yarden Weissbrot and offers a closer look at how the game builds on the original’s combat while introducing new ideas and systems.

In GRIME II, players control a Formless, a strange being that can copy the creatures it defeats. Instead of simply killing enemies, the Formless absorbs them and turns their shapes into usable powers. These absorbed forms become “molds,” which can be used in both combat and exploration. Molds allow players to summon enemy shapes to attack, fire projectiles, stun foes, or even act as helpers that open new paths and hidden areas.

Combat has been expanded to reward timing, awareness, and smart use of abilities. One of the key systems shown in the trailer is the Parry and Grasp mechanic. Using hand-like tendrils, the Formless can block enemy attacks, pull in enemies from a distance, or absorb them mid-fight. These actions can be upgraded to steal health or trigger traps built into the world itself.

GRIME II is set to launch on February 3, 2026, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. You can read our preview of the game here.
