We won’t have to wait long for Kingmakers, it’s coming to PC in Early Access this October

Imagine a game where you time-travel, fire tanks, bomb a medieval kingdom, and fight knights – that’s the premise of the strategy and shooter title Kingmakers. During the tinyBuild Connect showcase, it was revealed that it will be released in Early Access on October 8th on Steam and the Epic Games Store. A new trailer also showed the full scope of modern firepower amidst medieval chaos, making this an indie hit you definitely don’t want to miss.

In one moment, you are shooting enemies from a third-person perspective, and the very next, you are issuing commands to your army, building fortifications, or planning attacks from a bird’s-eye view. Besides conquering various castles solo, Kingmakers also offers cooperative multiplayer where up to four players can jointly tear down enemy strongholds. Vehicles like armored SUVs and motorcycles add a touch of absurdity, allowing you to run over knights like in some sort of medieval GTA.

Redemption Road Games, a 20-person studio based in Atlanta and Los Angeles, has been working on this game for four years, drawing inspiration from titles like Mount & Blade, Chivalry, and Deep Rock Galactic. In their dev blogs on Steam, they specifically highlight how the in-game artificial intelligence works and how they are pushing the Unreal Engine to its limits. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S should follow when Kingmakers officially exits Early Access.
