Koshmar: The Last Reverie has been officially announced as a new single-player action-adventure title from Polish indie developer Purple Ray Studio, a team composed of industry veterans who have contributed to projects such as Resident Evil Village and The Witcher 2. Early impressions have drawn comparisons to Alice: Madness Returns and even the visual flair of Arcane, signaling a project that leans heavily into atmosphere and psychological storytelling.

Set in a fictional society inspired by Victorian and Central European aesthetics around the 1920s, the game follows Violet, a withdrawn teenage girl and daughter of a mortician. Living in an emotionally muted and colorless reality, Violet finds solace in lucid dreaming, only to discover that her dreams are becoming increasingly corrupted by nightmares.

Gameplay in Koshmar: The Last Reverie focuses on fast-paced, third-person combat with an emphasis on hack-and-slash mechanics rather than the slower, more methodical approach seen in Soulslike titles. The experience combines combo-driven fighting, flexible weapons, and active abilities with roguelite elements, RPG progression systems, puzzles, and platforming segments.

A dynamic Sanity System plays a central role, influencing both combat effectiveness and narrative outcomes depending on player decisions, while a morality system reminiscent of Mass Effect further shapes the story and its consequences.

The project marks a huge shift for Purple Ray Studio, which previously released the more lighthearted Boti: Byteland Overclocked. The game is currently slated for release in 2027 on PC via Steam and unspecified consoles, with a simultaneous launch planned across platforms.
