It seems indie games are outperforming AAA titles this year. While Sony and Xbox are facing major issues, smaller publishers like Hooded Horse could practically take an early vacation thanks to the success of the medieval game Manor Lords.

Their game Manor Lords is currently one of the best-selling titles of the year. Before launch, this city-builder was the most wishlisted game on Steam, with over 3 million people waiting for its release. Within just one week, it sold one million copies on Steam, and recently it surpassed 2 million copies sold.

Manor Lords has set a high bar for city-builder games this year, especially impressive since it was developed by just one developer. Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender stated that the game exceeded all of their expectations. Although the team was optimistic after reading player feedback, they did not expect 2 million sales.

Additionally, Manor Lords achieved a higher peak in concurrent players than major strategy games such as Total War: Warhammer 3 and Civilization VI. However, the publisher noted that the team would have been satisfied with only half of the success achieved. For those less familiar, Manor Lords attracted more than 170,000 concurrent players on Steam, surpassing most titles released this year so far. In the last 24 hours alone, more than 20,000 players were playing the game simultaneously.
