After the launch of version 1.0 in October, the team behind the sandbox action adventure game Necesse has released its first major update since leaving Early Access. While the developers describe version 1.1 as a smaller patch than usual, it still brings important changes to balance, settlement management, and world activity. To celebrate the update and the holiday season, Necesse is now part of the Steam Winter Sale with a 35% discount.

One of the main goals of version 1.1 is to improve melee-focused builds. True melee weapons now grant more resilience, and several trinkets that rely on resilience have been strengthened. The developers admit this is not a final solution, but it makes close-range combat more reliable than before. Enemy health has been raised slightly so strong builds cannot defeat bosses too quickly, while enemy damage has been lowered to reduce sudden one-hit deaths that felt unfair.

The update also improves how players manage settlers and adventure parties and players can now search for settlers by name or job and place them into custom groups. This makes it much easier to prepare a team before leaving town. To reduce frustration during fights, revived settlers now receive five seconds of damage protection, helping prevent repeated deaths in difficult battles.

Friendly creatures like butterflies, fireflies, and cave cropplers now appear in different areas, while sharks add a new threat to the waters. Those looking for more long-term goals will find new Incursion perks and quests, including rewards that unlock an eighth trinket slot. The update adds new maps for the Chieftain, Cursed Throne, and Sage & Grit, along with new crafting recipes as well.
