A new interview with Will Powers from Pearl Abyss, recorded during the New Games Plus Showcase, offers a deeper look at Crimson Desert and the ideas shaping the ambitious action-adventure RPG. The discussion touches on everything from the scale of the world to quieter moments of exploration, giving a clearer picture of what players can expect when they finally step into Pywel.

Based on gameplay shown so far, Crimson Desert places strong emphasis on nature and wildlife. At first glance, Pywel appears to be a grounded, medieval-inspired continent, but the illusion quickly fades as magic, myth, and mystery begin to surface. Powers explained that this balance between the familiar and the fantastical is intentional, helping the world feel believable while still full of surprises.

Combat remains at the core of the experience, and Pearl Abyss continues to position it as one of the game’s defining pillars. Weapons play a central role, with players able to mix and match a wide range of tools to suit their playstyle. Swords and handaxes sit alongside firearms and cannons, reinforcing the game’s blend of medieval grit and fantasy elements. According to the developers, this flexibility is meant to encourage experimentation rather than funnel players into a single “correct” approach.

The interview also highlighted how Crimson Desert isn’t just about constant action. Powers spoke about the importance of quieter moments, cultural details, and the everyday lives of the people inhabiting Pywel. These elements are designed to give weight to exploration and help the world feel lived-in, rather than serving as a backdrop for combat alone.

Crimson Desert supports both single-player and multiplayer experiences, allowing players to journey alone or recruit others to form a band of adventurers. Regardless of how it’s played, your choices are a driving force. Decisions shape events, influence the world, and ultimately determine how the story unfolds, blending important narrative paths with optional side content.

The game will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with release date set at March 19th, 2026.
