Mixtape, the latest project from the studio Beethoven & Dinosaur, known for the acclaimed game The Artful Escape, presented a new trailer at Summer Game Fest 2025 that many are still talking about. This “coming-of-age” adventure, published by Annapurna Interactive, is coming soon to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass.
Mixtape follows three friends on their last adventure, driven by a perfectly curated playlist of hits from the ’80s and ’90s. You’ll listen to iconic bands such as DEVO, Roxy Music, The Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division, and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The soundtrack drives a series of dreamy vignettes, each showcasing key moments of teenage life: first kisses, late-night mischief, skateboarding, fireworks, and breaking into abandoned theme parks.
The trailer, full of beautiful visuals, captures the spirit of the era, blending nostalgic realism with dreamlike, fantastical moments that evoke the emotional peaks of adolescence. Reminiscent of Life is Strange, the game uses abstract storytelling to amplify the key character-defining moments. The recognizable style of Beethoven & Dinosaur, seen in the psychedelic flair of The Artful Escape, is clearly evident in this game as well.
