Team Lazerbeam, in collaboration with Devolver Digital, has announced Shroom and Gloom, a first-person roguelike deckbuilder set to arrive in Early Access on PC via Steam later this year. It promises a unique adventure filled with fungal foes, hand-drawn dungeons, and explosive card combinations. A free demo, available now on Steam, allows you to dive into the game’s dark world and get a glimpse of its mechanics.

In Shroom and Gloom, you play as a mushroom forager venturing into dark, hand-drawn dungeons, armed with two sets of cards to outsmart and defeat opponents. Your Combat Deck fuels fast-paced battles, allowing you to slash, punch, or fry enemies with powerful attacks. The Exploration Deck shapes your path through the dungeon, helping you transform cards, unlock weapons, and gain new abilities.

Each new playthrough brings new challenges. The demo, featuring 26 unique tunnels, showcases the game’s smooth combat, humor, and striking art style, reminiscent of Inscryption and Slay the Spire. Early Access is expected to last about a year, and player and community feedback will help in adding new cards, dungeons, and mechanics, with a hint that multiplayer is also on the horizon.
