Publisher tinyBuild and developer Hypnohead have announced that The King is Watching will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on July 29. The roguelite strategy game will also arrive on the Microsoft Store for PC on the same day.

Originally released on Steam on July 21, 2025, The King is Watching stands out by combining kingdom management with an unusual mechanic where your kingdom only functions while it has your attention. Players must oversee every aspect of their realm while defending it from increasingly dangerous enemy waves.

Resource gathering, military training, and magical research all depend on the king’s watchful gaze. Looking at farms allows peasants to harvest crops, while shifting attention elsewhere causes production to stop, forcing players to carefully prioritize every decision.

As the kingdom expands, you can establish production chains, gather rare resources, trade materials, and unlock powerful magical technologies. Stronger defenses become essential as enemy assaults intensify, with options ranging from archers and knights to magical spells and even the game’s unusual “flour dragons” to help protect the castle.

The game also features a customizable building deck that allows you to tailor each run to your preferred strategy. Different combinations of buildings, upgrades, and defensive options encourage experimentation, giving every playthrough a fresh roguelite experience.
