Every successful game runs into the same question: what comes next? For Poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors, the answer isn’t just “more of the same.” Vampire Crawlers is their latest project, developed in collaboration with Nosebleed Interactive, and it flips the formula in a pretty interesting way. Instead of the real-time, screen-filling chaos that defined Vampire Survivors, this spin-off leans into a turn-based deckbuilder structure, layered with roguelite progression.

You’re still stepping into a world filled with familiar characters, items, and that same slightly chaotic humor, but the way you interact with it has completely changed. You pick a character, build out a deck of attacks and abilities, and dive into dungeons packed with enemies. But instead of reacting in real time, you’re planning.

That’s where the new “TurboTurn” system comes in. It’s designed to keep things fast, even within a turn-based structure. Battles aren’t meant to drag: they’re quick, punchy, and built for short sessions that can easily turn into much longer ones. And if you’ve played enough roguelites, you already know how that goes: one run becomes two, then three, and suddenly you’ve lost track of time.

Vampire Crawlers is set to launch on April 21, 2026, across PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S, with the added boost of day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. A mobile version is also planned for later in the year, which honestly feels like a natural fit for this kind of game.

If you’re expecting a direct sequel to Vampire Survivors, this isn’t it. But if you’re open to seeing that formula reinterpreted, slowed down, restructured, and turned into something more strategic, then Vampire Crawlers might end up being a more interesting evolution than a straightforward follow-up ever could be.
