Chucklefish has shared a new look at Witchbrook, its long-awaited life simulation RPG, revealing new gameplay systems that blend magical education, business management and cozy life simulation. Often described as a mix between Stardew Valley and a wizard school adventure, the game is currently scheduled to launch later in 2026 for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox.

At the heart of Witchbrook is a fully featured magical academy where players attend lessons, complete homework, study in the library and take exams before eventually graduating. Progressing through school isn’t just cosmetic, as classes unlock new spells, magical abilities and crafting recipes that expand your options throughout the adventure.

Unlike many school simulators, attending the academy comes at a cost. Students must pay their tuition by earning money through running their own business, adding an economic layer to the experience. Daily life is also influenced by a wellbeing system, with factors such as grades, friendships, sleep and personal choices affecting the character’s overall performance and development.

Outside the classroom, Witchbrook offers a wide range of activities typical of life simulation games. You can cook meals, grow gardens, decorate their homes, pursue romantic relationships and build a career while exploring the magical world at your own pace. According to the developers, the first in-game year alone is expected to provide between 40 and 50 hours of gameplay, while a four-player cooperative mode allows friends to experience the adventure together.

Originally announced in 2017, Witchbrook has experienced several delays during development. The latest schedule moved its release from late 2025 into 2026 as Chucklefish continues development alongside co-developer Robotality.
