The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is a celebratory cosmetic variant of the standard Xbox Series X, released to mark the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox (launched November 15, 2001). It was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026.

This is the first translucent design for a Series X console. It features a see-through “OG Green” shell inspired by the original Xbox’s iconic atomic green color and chunky aesthetic. You can see the internal components through the casing, giving it a retro tech vibe similar to classic transparent hardware (think N64 or Game Boy Color variants).

Key visual highlights:

  • Glowing green Xbox “X” logo on the front that lights up on power-on, nodding to the original console’s startup animation.
  • Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front.
  • Subtle hidden design tributes and surprises for longtime fans (Microsoft is teasing these without full details yet).
  • Fully transparent back elements on the matching controller.

The console retains the standard Series X tower form factor (roughly 15.1cm x 15.1cm x 30.1cm, ~9.8 lbs with disc drive).

Hardware Specs and Performance

Identical to the standard 1TB Xbox Series X – no performance upgrades. It’s purely a collector’s edition:

  • CPU: 8-core custom Zen 2 @ up to 3.8 GHz (3.6 GHz with SMT).
  • GPU: 12 TFLOPs, 52 CUs custom RDNA 2 @ 1.825 GHz.
  • Memory: 16 GB GDDR6 (split bandwidth).
  • Storage: 1 TB custom NVMe SSD (with expandable storage support via cards or USB).
  • Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray.
  • Performance Targets: True 4K at up to 120 FPS, ray tracing, Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, Dolby Vision/Atmos, etc.
  • Full backward compatibility with Xbox One, 360, and original Xbox games, enhanced with faster loads and better visuals.

It uses the same Xbox Velocity Architecture for quick resume, fast loading, and high-fidelity gaming. No internal changes or “hidden surprises” in hardware performance have been confirmed, it’s all aesthetic and thematic.

Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition

  • Translucent OG Green shell with visible internals.
  • Classic ABXY button colors (yellow Y, blue X, green A, red B) – a direct callback to early Xbox controllers.
  • Bumpers inspired by the original “Duke” controller’s black/white buttons.
  • Fully transparent back case and battery door, showing the classic Xbox logo.
  • Standard modern features: hybrid D-pad, textured grips, share button, improved ergonomics, Bluetooth/PC/iOS/Android support.
