North Beach Games has revealed the first gameplay teaser for Stranded Deep 2, moving the survival sandbox from the Pacific Ocean into a dangerous desert wilderness built around an endless river.

Led by original Stranded Deep co-creator Sam Edwards, the sequel asks players to survive scorching heat, canyons, rapids and wildlife while using the river as a route into new regions. Its Steam page is now live, although no release date has been announced.

Players can travel by kayak or raft across a landscape assembled from handcrafted content. North Beach Games says new biomes, locations, animals and crafting options can be added over time without reducing exploration to a repeating procedural loop.

Dynamic water and terrain allow survivors to dig into the landscape, redirect parts of the river and reshape their surroundings. Traditional needs such as hunger, thirst, health and exposure remain central, while a living ecosystem gives animals their own food chain and behaviour.

Mobile bases are another major addition. Players can construct a floating home, carry it along the river or settle on the banks and develop a permanent camp. Crafting also depends on the materials selected for each tool and structure.

The returning Cartographer has been expanded to support player-created locations and cross-platform sharing. Co-op is also in development as a core feature. For another survival game built around a mobile base, read our The Last Caretaker Early Access review.
