Kyoto-based developer 17-BIT has announced that its physics-fueled co-op dungeon brawler Awaysis is set to release in Q2 2026. The game will arrive on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with the release window announced during Day of the Devs showcase.

The action in Awaysis leans heavily on physics and gravity where players can knock enemies off cliffs, push them into traps, and use the force of their weapon swings to send foes flying. Light weapons allow for quick combos, while heavy ones can deliver slow but powerful hits. Movement is just as important, letting you dash across hills, surf down slopes to pick up speed, and launch into the air to reach hidden paths or smash into tough enemies at top speed.

The game features a colorful team of heroes: Auro, a brave fox; Cicero, a loyal but easily fooled frog; Vernelle, a turtle with plenty of attitude; and Sperling, a fresh recruit in a Sparrow special ops squad who has little real combat experience. Together, they set out on a wild quest filled with danger and humor.

Awaysis also includes competitive modes for players who want a break from the campaign. Friends can face each other in free-for-all battles or team up in 2v2 matches such as Deathmatch and King of the Hill. The game’s style is brought to life by a strong creative team, including a soundtrack by renowned composer Hip Tanaka (Metroid, EarthBound) and artwork from Satoshi Matsuura and Alexandre Diboine.

You can try the game right now thanks to a debut demo available on Xbox Series X/S as part of the ID@Xbox Demo Fest. The demo includes the first level of the game.
