The psychological horror game Dreamcore from Montraluz studio is getting a major new chapter called Playrooms. This expansion is set for release on June 17, 2025, and will be available on almost all platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. However, as soon as the new update is released, the price will increase, so now is the right time to decide to purchase the game if you want free future updates. You can read our full review of the game here.

Instead of cheap jump scares, this game focuses on a slow, creepy sense of unease. The goal is to solve puzzles to escape labyrinthine environments, clearly inspired by the viral “backrooms” phenomenon. It’s less about fighting monsters and more about silent, unsettling spaces that feel terrifying.

The Playrooms expansion takes that familiar formula and twists it into something more personal and disturbing. You’ll find children’s drawings and playpens repurposed into a bizarre nightmare. “We are exploring the endlessly imaginative mind of a child,” says Valentín Iribarren, the game’s creator at Montraluz. “Mixing common childhood memories with something disturbing was very exciting for us.” The result is a new level that adds about 50% more content.

Currently, Dreamcore costs €8.99 on all platforms, but with the arrival of the Playrooms expansion on June 17, the price will jump to €11.99. The great news is that if you buy the game before that date, you will get Playrooms and two additional chapters planned for 2026 completely free.

“We wanted to reward early buyers,” explains Iribarren. “Current and new players can still grab the game at the original price and enjoy all expansions as free updates.” That’s a pretty good deal for a game that has already earned an impressive “Very Positive” rating on Steam from over 680 reviews.
