A new studio called RedOctane Games has entered the music rhythm game scene, and their goal is to push the genre forward. The passionate team is a mix of veteran developers and a new generation of creators. By blending the best of the genre’s past with the future of gaming, the studio plans to work closely with the established rhythm gaming community.
The team has been in pre-production for several months and has now officially started production on its first rhythm-based game, which is expected to be announced later this year. Leading the studio is industry professional Simon Ebejer. He was the Production Director for several Guitar Hero titles at Neversoft and later served as the Studio Head at Vicarious Visions and VP of Operations at Blizzard Entertainment, where he was key to the development of Diablo IV.
Ebejer shared his vision about the studio: “Rhythm games are about more than just gameplay, they’re about feel, flow, and connection to the music and to each other.” He added that RedOctane Games is their way of giving back to a genre that is important to them, while also moving it in new and exciting directions.
