Heart Machine, the studio known for Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash, announced with Devolver Digital that its newest game Possessor(s) will launch on November 11th for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5. They revealed the release date alongside a new trailer. This trailer further explained the game’s genre, which the developers call “Search Action.”

In Possessor(s), you play as Luca, a high-schooler stuck in the ruins of Sanzu City. This city has been overrun by monsters after a dimensional disaster. With her body broken, Luca makes a desperate deal with Rhem, a recently freed demon who needs a host. Now joined, they make a last attempt to survive as they explore the massive, interconnected city.

This title blends the exploration of a Metroidvania, while the gameplay focuses on tight, fast-paced platforming and unique movement skills that flow directly into combat. Fights are tense and require precision, relying on aerial combos, juggling, and using improvised weapons like a kitchen knife, a guitar, or even a computer mouse.

As Luca and Rhem co-exist, they gain new abilities that let them explore different districts, all of which are full of secrets. Finding and unlocking powerful weapons and upgrades is key. This not only improves their combat strength but also opens up previously inaccessible areas, directly driving the core “Search Action” experience.
