Nexon has announced that Mintrocket, the studio behind Dave the Diver, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Korean gaming company. The move aims to strengthen Mintrocket’s independent culture and streamline its operations.

Mintrocket, originally created as a Nexon sub-brand in 2022, will now be established as its own legal entity. Jaeho Hwang, head of Mintrocket and director of Dave the Diver, will become the first CEO of the new subsidiary. Hwang, who joined Nexon in 2005 and has worked on various successful titles, will continue leading Mintrocket in his new role.

Nexon believes that turning Mintrocket into an independent company will encourage faster decision-making and simpler business processes. The company also hopes the move will help Mintrocket develop its brand on a global scale.

Originally, Mintrocket was founded to focus on creating smaller, original games, in contrast to Nexon’s focus on major online titles such as Dungeon & Fighter and MapleStory. This change aligns with Nexon’s IP growth initiative, which aims to expand the company’s global reach by developing key franchises, investing in new products, and localizing its brands for new markets.

Nexon aims to achieve annual revenue of €4.65 billion and operating profit of €1.55 billion by 2027.
