Pompeii: The Legacy Finally Has a Release Date – Arrives Mid-September

Siscia Games, a one-person Croatian studio, has revealed that Pompeii: The Legacy, a city-builder set in ancient Rome, will enter Early Access on Steam on September 16, 2025. The game combines classic city-management mechanics with a generational story about a Roman family attempting to restore its legacy under the looming threat of Mount Vesuvius.

As the head of a Roman family, your task is to rebuild the devastated city beneath the volcano, specifically Pompeii after the infamous eruption of 79 AD. Every decision: political, architectural or personal has long-term consequences that shape the fate of both your family and the city. You’ll need to balance the needs of plebeians, patricians and slaves, manage trade, social expectations and technological development, all while facing natural disasters and political intrigue.

The Early Access version includes three modes:

  • Creative Mode – build freely without penalties or restrictions, ideal for those focused on aesthetics and experimentation.
  • Narrative Campaign – follows an emotional generational story centered on family legacy.
  • Classic Sandbox – allows unrestricted city-building.

A new demo will be available from July 24 to August 3, 2025 on Steam, offering the introductory chapter and core mechanics. You can read our interview with Željko Kos here, and our impressions of the recent demo here.
