New intergalactic co-op adventure Orbitals, set in a retro anime-style galaxy, has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2. The reveal took place during The Game Awards 2025 Pre-Show, confirming a 2026 release window. This marks the debut project from Tokyo-based indie studio Shapefarm, with Kepler Interactive, known for Sifu and Pacific Drive, handling publishing.

The game is built specifically for two-player asymmetrical co-op where Players take on the roles of Maki and Omura, two eager explorers who may lack experience but make up for it with determination. Their mission is to travel across space in hopes of saving their collapsing space station from a mysterious cosmic storm.

Teamwork is at the center of the experience as players will solve problems using different tools, clear paths for each other, and pilot their ship through dangerous asteroid fields. Many challenges can only be overcome through careful coordination, making communication a key part of the adventure.

Orbitals is developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is designed to take full advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Local co-op lets two players team up on one console using two sets of Joy-Con 2 controllers with split-screen gameplay. GameShare allows players to share a copy of Orbitals with another nearby Switch 2 or compatible Nintendo Switch system. Online play is also supported, with matchmaking and the Switch 2’s built-in microphone and GameChat providing clear communication during missions.
