Just as we thought we might have a month off from new game releases, September proves us wrong. The month is packed with so many titles that you’ll have to be selective about what you play. In fact, we were tempted to expand this list even further, as it’s impossible to pick just a few of the best. Nevertheless, here are our top 12 indie games releasing in September.

Hirogami

Release Date: September 3, 2025

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5

Genre: Action-Adventure / Platformer

Hirogami is a 3D action platformer in which players control Hiro, a “folding master” from Shishiki village, who uses the art of origami to transform into animal forms: Armadillo (rolling through obstacles), Ape (traversing treetops), Frog (leaping heights), and more. These transformations, tied to traversal and combat, offer a fresh platforming mechanic where the game integrates platforming with puzzles and combat.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

CloverPit

Described as the “demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette,” CloverPit traps players in a rusty cell with a slot machine and an ATM, where they must pay off an escalating debt each round or fall to ruin, literally through a collapsing grate. It’s best to Manipulate the slot machine with charms and prizes to trigger big combos which then offer a great risk-reward loop.
