Solo indie developer Lanstrash has announced Aethercore, an upcoming third-person action RPG that blends fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with a cyberpunk dystopian setting. While the game does not yet have a release date, it is already available to wishlist on Steam.

Created by the developer behind the Crystal Story RPG series, Aethercore takes players to a futuristic world where immortality has become a commodity and fractured souls struggle to reclaim their humanity. The adventure unfolds across interconnected city environments filled with exploration, platforming, and battles against corrupted machines.

Combat focuses on real-time action, allowing you to parry, dodge, unleash elemental magic, and chain together stylish attacks. The developer cites Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts, and Elden Ring among the game’s biggest inspirations.

Development has progressed steadily through regular updates since 2025. Recent showcases have highlighted destructible environments, improved enemy AI, boss encounters, loot systems, cinematic cutscenes, lock-on mechanics, platforming, and expanded level design. The game is being built in Unreal Engine and features a colorful, stylized visual style with chibi-inspired character designs.
