Atari has announced a significant leadership change as part of its ongoing European expansion, appointing Andreas Deptolla as the company’s first-ever President of Atari Europe. The newly created role will see Deptolla oversee Atari’s growing business operations, development studios and technology initiatives across the region.

Reporting directly to Atari Chairman and CEO Wade Rosen, Deptolla will manage the company’s expanding European footprint, including development studios in the United Kingdom and Sweden, as well as business operations headquartered in Münster, Germany.

“Since joining Atari in 2023, Andreas has established himself as a valued and influential leader, contributing to the company’s revitalization,” said Wade Rosen. “In this expanded role Andreas will direct our growing European business footprint and play a key role in reestablishing Atari as an iconic gaming and pop culture brand.”

Deptolla joined Atari as Chief Technology Officer in 2023, where he built the company’s IT infrastructure, analytics capabilities and engineering operations. He also established Atari’s technology presence in India, helping connect global business operations with development resources while contributing to projects such as MobyGames, one of the world’s largest video game databases.

Before joining Atari, Deptolla co-founded employee benefits technology company ThrivePass, serving as its President and Board Member. He also currently sits on the boards of Wishlist and Apogee Entertainment.

Europe represents tremendous potential for Atari, not only as a market for our games, but as a deep well of talent and potential partnerships we can leverage to drive our business forward,” said Deptolla. “This last year has really been pivotal for our European expansion, and we have very exciting things in the pipeline!”

Alongside the promotion, Atari also announced another key executive appointment. Coatsink CEO Richard Snowdon has been named Vice President of Studios, Europe, where he will oversee game development across Atari’s European studios while reporting directly to Deptolla.
