Yes, you can already play Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance on PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and PC thanks to official versions on Steam and GOG. But have you ever wondered if it could run on the PS Vita? Now it can. A fan-made port of this classic 2001 Dungeons & Dragons action RPG has been adapted for the Vita by developer Nevak.

Version 1.03 brings the game’s fast hack-and-slash combat, character progression, and co-op dungeon crawling to Sony’s handheld. The game runs by using the official Android ARMv7 version through a custom wrapper that recreates a small Android environment on Vita hardware.

The port supports local two-player co-op if two controllers are connected before launching the game. On handheld Vita systems, the MiniVitaTV plugin is required for the second controller to work correctly. Performance can also be adjusted by enabling Battery Saving mode in the settings, which locks the game to 30 FPS in demanding areas like the Rotting Bog.

To use the port, you must provide the original Android game data files. These must be obtained legally by purchasing Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance on Google Play, if available, or by extracting the files from an installed copy on your Android device using an APK extractor app from the Play Store, without rooting.

There are some known limitations. Video playback runs at low framerates due to CPU decoding, and audio decoding can cause small performance spikes. Real-time shadows are disabled to improve performance, achievements do not work, and some users report touchpad issues. Overclocking the Vita can help, but overall the port runs smoothly even on standard hardware.
